Crowds of people surrounded Yarra Bay on Sunday 8th January 2012, for the annual ceremony of the Holy Cross (blessing of the waters).
Commencing at 12:30pm, the brave young swimmers were there earlier, patiently waiting for the blessed cross to be thrown in the water, by Archbishop Stylianos.
In the end, the cross was retrieved by fit, young Theodore Pasialis from All Saints Belmore, who also caught it last year!
From there, the crowd ventured up to the Bicentennial Park where they enjoyed Greek music, traditional food and dancing, followed by talks and raffle draws..
